Cycle and ride during Bike Week
24-06-2010
Cyclists are being encouraged to ?cycle and ride? from the Enderby park and ride.

The innovative site, designed and built by the city and county councils with construction partners Tarmac, boasts a covered, secure cycle rack and free lockers available to store helmets and equipment in.

Buses are fast and frequent, running every ten minutes to Leicester City Centre and during Bike Week, residents are urged to give it a try.

The bus service operates from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday, from outside the terminus building to Leicester city centre, with the opportunity to then stay on the bus for additional city stops, known as the City Loop.

Running between 19th and 27th June, Bike Week is a national cycling awareness week, aiming to show how cycling can easily be a part of everyday life.

Lesley Pendleton, County Council cabinet member for environment and transport, said: ?National Bike Week is the perfect opportunity to give the cycle and ride a try.

Cycling is a great form of exercise and this arrangement is ideal for people without the option to cycle the entire journey into the city. ?

The park and ride is situated on Leicester Lane, St Johns opposite, the Police headquarters. Visit www.quicksilverbus.co.uk for more information on fares and routes.
