Join the Walk of Life on Sunday - and bring the dog!
08-06-2010
Hundreds of people from all over the county will be putting their best feet forward on Sunday, (June 13) getting down to Leicester?s Victoria Park to do the Walk of Life 2010!

There is a Village Fete and fun dog show on at the same time in the park, all to raise money for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.

It?s not too late to enter the walk, in fact anyone who wants to join in on the day is welcome to simply turn up, pay their £5 entry fee and set out with the other walkers.

Maggie Deere, Events Fundraiser for Rainbows said: ?Every penny counts towards enriching and improving care for children with life-limiting illnesses. There are even buses for the weary who would rather ride for part of the journey!?

?Entrants can opt for either five miles or 15 miles ? and for those who stay behind, a Village Fete with dog show, stage show, belly dancers, games, rides, stalls and many other attractions will entertain the crowds.

?Dogs are welcome on the walks and the Fete will still be on when the rovers return, so pets can prove they've got talent by registering for entry into one of the fun classes.?

One special visitor will be Rachael Bailey with her beautiful Canadian Eskimo dogs (pictured) who work as Pets As Therapy (PAT) dogs in hospices and hospitals and are firm favourites of the life-limited children at Rainbows.

The walk starts at 10am, registration costs £5 and every walker will receive a goody bag and medal.

It?s free to join the village fete and dog show.

For those who prefer to register before the day, the number to call is 0800 952 1133 or register online at www.rainbows.co.uk/walkoflife
