DESFORD ART SALE ACHIEVES GOOD RESULT!
20-01-2010
The group of local artists who staged an Art Sale on Saturday 12th December in The Coach House at Desford Hall, Leicester Lane, near to Desford were delighted with the success of the event.

A good number of pictures were sold amidst a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere which gave people a chance browse the exhibition and take a break from Christmas preparations.

The artists were able to send £276 to Manor Croft, the Loros Day Centre.

The managers there said they were thrilled at the amount raised by the picture sales and other donations. The money will chiefly be used to buy art materials for users of the centre to experience the relaxation and enjoyment provided by people producing their own paintings and drawings.

The group would like to thank Directors of SkillBase First Aid Training and meeting facilities who kindly provided the venue free of charge. And the group?s event may lead to further opportunities!

One of the visitors was a representative from the Earl Shilton Business Forum, who are assisting in regeneration of the town.

The Forum has recently been successful in achieving a grant of £5000 for the ?Creative Spaces? ? where empty shops are utilised to give artists an opportunity to use the vacant spaces to show their work.

This sort of initiative has proved successful in other communities encouraging businesses to open and take up the empty shops.

So meanwhile the group will continue producing their art works and hope that they may be invited to take part in the innovative scheme planned for Earl Shilton
